Most of the Fogwill/Fogwells shown in Hampshire came from Berry Pomeroy (ie all of the boys of Roger Fogwill and Ann Binmore) and Brixham (earlier). They can be found by consulting the Trees. There are a number however, that I cannot account for as follows
George Croft Fogwell chr 24 Mar 1833 Saint Marys Portsea, son of George Croft Fogwell and Mary
Eliza Fogwill = William Bailey Green Saint Marys Portsea, 28 Aug 1858
Robert Vogwell= Hannah Button 10 Mar 1784 Saint Marys Portsea M062612
Had following issue
Mary Vogwell 1785, Elizth 1788, Robt 1790 = Lydia Mills Spiller, Sarah 1792, John 1795, = Mary issue Elizabeth Solomon 1826=Ralph Woodhouse Burge 1844 , Mary Maria 1830,
Martha 1798 = John Major, Elizabeth 1798.
There is some indication that Robert Vogwell, husband of Hannah Button, came from Chagford, Devon, but the link is tenuous as yet.
A will was made by a John Fogwell , Southampton, Hampshire and deposited with the PCC (Court of Canterbury) August 1757
I have not applied for this will yet, but it may have some pointers as to his origins.
